Camping in Tanay, Rizal is a popular activity for outdoor enthusiasts. The town is known for its natural beauty. It offers various camping sites and outdoor activities such as hiking, waterfalls, and mountain biking. Some popular camping spots include Tinipak River, Daranak Falls, and Mt. Batolusong. Visitors should prepare for the camping trip by bringing appropriate gear and supplies, checking weather conditions, and following park rules and regulations.

Tanay, Rizal is a beloved destination for nature lovers, with its verdant mountains and pristine river. As an avid 4×4 and hiking enthusiast, I prefer secluded campsites off the beaten path, away from the crowds.

While most visitors to Tanay have likely camped or watched the sea of clouds at Treasure Mountain, the site has become overrun with hordes of primarily inexperienced campers. For a similar experience without the crowds, consider stocking up on camping gear in the Philippines and trying out these campsites near Manila.

Secret campsites in Tanay

1) WK Forest Reserve and Campgrounds (Sta Ines, Tanay, Rizal) (1.5 hrs from Manila)

Accessing the campsite requires high clearance vehicles, 4x4s, or motorcycles due to the need to cross 7-9 rivers and navigate a 500m uphill technical 4×4 terrain to reach the main campsite. However, the effort is well worth it, as this campsite is one of the most peaceful locations to immerse oneself in nature and its sounds entirely. Situated in the heart of a forested mountain, the campsite blends seamlessly into its surroundings.

There are no signs going to WK Forest Camp, as the owners do not allow walk-ins. Reservations must be made in advance, and detailed instructions for reaching the site will be provided. The campsite offers modern, clean bathroom facilities with a bidet and an outdoor bathing area. Campers may choose between open campsites, forested camps, or campsites with stunning views of the mountain range and river.

2) Camp Reynon (Tinucan, Tanay, Rizal) (1.2 hrs from Manila)

Located in the small town of Tinucan, just 2 km from WK Forest Camp and easily accessible by high clearance vehicles, this is the perfect spot for those looking to camp by the river. The site provides basic amenities such as an outhouse and bonfire pit. Also, it offers private access to the pristine Tanay river. While the campsite is smaller, its proximity to the river makes for an idyllic camping experience.

3) Jungle Base (Daraitan, Tanay, Rizal) (2 hrs from Manila)

Jungle Base, famous for its 4×4 training, is situated in an area that can only be accessed by a 4×4, particularly during the wet season. However, visitors can enjoy basic toilet facilities, a function hall, and camping areas next to the Daraitan River. In addition to camping, Jungle Base provides a firing range and technical 4×4 training for those interested.
