Three Entertaining Outdoor Games to Try at Camp
The goal of camping should never be dullness, but rather to be enjoyable and exhilarating! Spice up your camping activities with these entertaining camp games.
It is important to note that these activities are not to be confused with the more competitive sports such as obstacle courses or camp Olympics. The purpose of these games is to create an enjoyable atmosphere and maintain good morale. It is the facilitator’s discretion whether to keep score or not.
1) Playing basketball using a balloon
The classic basketball game is present but with an added twist. Divide the participants into two teams with the same number of members. Position them on the floor in alternating rows with a few feet of space between each individual.
A container should be put on either side of the makeshift arena. The objective is to gain points by hitting the balloon to any teammate and towards the bin or basket. Any participant can take the balloon without having to get up from where they are sitting.
When the balloon goes outside the boundaries, the team with the most points will be declared the winner once the game time has elapsed.
2) A bagful of skits
A collection of skits can be contained in a bag, providing a fun way to entertain and engage an audience. This is easily done by gathering different skits, writing down the instructions, and then placing them in a bag. Then, when it is time to perform, the skit can be chosen at random by selecting one from the bag. This is a great way to add some variety and keep things fresh and entertaining.
Playing this game should take place in the evening after it has been explained during the day. To begin, the leader should have everyone in one large group. Break them up into smaller teams with five to eight members, making sure to have at least three groups.
Allow the team one minute to pick five items from the camp without knowing what the game is about. Afterward, guide them to construct a skit using all the objects they have gathered.
The teams must come up with five-minute skits, and the facilitator decides how to evaluate their presentations, keeping in mind the creative utilization of all the items.
3) Engage in the photo project
This task is a cinch with just a smartphone. Split the campers into three to four squads. Select a leader for each, and the organizer will provide them with a list of objectives to finish within a period of roughly 20 minutes. This timeframe can be extended for bigger groups if necessary.
The point values for each task vary from 20, 15, 10, to 5 points, depending on the level of difficulty. It is up to the facilitators to come up with the most inventive categories; though the most typical ones are those taken unintentionally or while a crazy incident is occurring in the background.
The most entertaining part of the activity is the presentation of photos and videos by each team leader. To make the experience more enjoyable, connecting the smartphones to a projector would be ideal.
These camp games are sure to keep campers entertained and coming back for more. To provide a balance, plan for tiring activities during the day and more relaxed pursuits when the night falls, such as sitting around a campfire.
